People seem to be buying this item expecting it to be VGA to HDMI, or bi-directional. This was made to send the video from your HDMI source, to your VGA display. If you're trying to convert a VGA signal to an HDMI signal, you need to convert and get a proper cable.. much more expensive. ..but stop marking this thing poorly because you don't know what you're buying. It's not a bad product, it's just getting bad reviews from people who can't do research or for that matter, read.

This item is just what I needed, I ave already got a D/A converter which puts out an analogue signal from my HDMI video card but my DLP projector is VGA only, so it is perfect for what I need!

This product is really slick. For anyone wanting to run a computer across your flat panel TV this works awesome. If you do not have a HDMI or S-video out on your computer this is a good way to go. You will need a sound cable as well to get the sound from your computer through your speaker system or TV. This is a good product and I could only find it on Amazon.

Bought this item hoping the user review was correct and the product description was wrong. The product description is right. It does not let you go from a computer/laptop to an HDMI input on your TV. Can't think of any reason why you would want to go from an HDMI device to a computer monitor but I guess that is what this is for.

I bought this to use my PS3 on my PC monitor, but it does not work, why?
Because the PS3 is designed to not give out a single if the device does no have HDCP.
Which basically means that if the receiving device does not offer protection for the signal that it gets it wont give a signal.

Some form of copyright protection. I ended up using a VGA box which worked fine but you can probably sell your current one and add some cash and get a very decent new monitor with HDMI input.
